– Proffit et al. 2013
Impacted upper first permanent molar and E
Mesioangular impacted second permanent molar
Impacted lower second and third molars
Mesioangular impacted lower third molar
Ectopic upper third molar
(in maxillary antrum)
Ectopic lower third molar with associated pathology (dentrigous cyst)
Ectopic molars commonly involve the third molars impaction with the second molars or ramus, and the first permanent molars impaction with the Es. The incidence of the first permanent molars impaction to the Es was reported as 2-6% (Bjerklin 1994) and the majority (66%) were reversible (self-correcting) (Kurol and Bjerklin 1982). The incidence of impacted second molars was reported as low at 0-2.3% (Farman et al. 1978, Bondemark and Tsiopa 2007). The reported incidence of ectopic or impacted third molars was the highest at 19-30% (Carter and Worthington 2015).
