Diagnosis & Considerations
Maxillary or mandibular premolars
Palatal/lingual, midalveolar, buccal ectopia
Clinical Considerations
When should interceptive treatment be performed?
Interceptive treatment can be performed as soon as signs of an ectopic premolar are present or when early loss of deciduous molars occurs. This could be space maintenance to allow for normal premolar eruption or it could be active space creation with early orthodontics. Ideal times for interceptive treatment would be children at 9 to 11 years old.
