Brushing your teeth with braces
Brushing your teeth well during your braces treatment is important. It keeps your teeth and gums healthy whilst you undergo your smile transformation. You can brush your teeth with a manual toothbrush ensuring you keep the bristles at 45 degrees as you brush around the gums, brackets, biting surfaces and backs of your teeth in gentle circular motions. An electric toothbrush is also highly recommended. Flossing with a special type of floss that goes beneath the arch wire (e.g. SuperFloss) and using mouth rinses should be done in addition to toothbrushing wherever possible. It is recommended to keep a toothbrush with you at all times so you can clean your teeth after each meal.
How to eat with braces
Eating with braces can be a challenge however simple steps can improve how you eat. Remember to only chew soft foods, especially during the first week of your braces. Cut any hard foods up so you can chew them carefully with your molars (back teeth) only. Avoid sticky foods and sugary foods. Ensure you brush your teeth after each meal.
